There seems to be a misconception that somehow the story is about us.
“For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as waters cover the sea.” Isaiah 11:9
“I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.” Exodus 6:7
“I will deliver this vast army into your hands, and you will know that I am the Lord.” 1 Kings 20:28
“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10
“You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me.” Isaiah 43:10
“Keep my Sabbaths holy, that they may be a sign between us. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.” Ezekiel 20:20
“Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord…” Philippians 3:8
It appears, rather, that the story is about Him.
