“[The law of God] is the preserver of true freedom and liberty. It points out and prohibits those things that degrade and enslave…”
-Ellen White, Education pg. 291
This quote affects me deeply, and I think it’s because I see Jesus there, in place of the phrase Law of God. And when I look through the lens of his grace, back to the law as it was given to Israel, I am struck by the idea that God is the originator of justice, freedom, personal rights. The things we run to outside of a relationship with him, outside of his grace and outside of his “narrow way” are degrading to us. DEGRADING to us. They degrade us, make us less than our real worth.
