First off:
My homeschool weekly schedule charts are available as downloads! The number one source of traffic I receive on this site is to my AO-inspired weekly schedules (thank you, Pinterest). I’ve emailed off so many of these things and FINALLY have them on the website as simple downloads. I’m a slow duck, but may this be the first of many such offerings.
Second:
I’m sitting here combing through my draft folder trying to decide which of the unpublished posts written in the last month are worth sharing. Life in July brought quite a few changes and some of the posts have me screwing up my nose with lack of recognition at the place I was in when they were written. Ha!
Third:
We’re dealing with MRSA in our house, which is awesome when you’re smack-dab in between health insurance plans. In the middle of combating the infection in my leg, my 4 year old stabbed a dull garden tool into his big toe (he’s pretty sure he was aiming for the ground) and required 5 traumatizing stitches. Let me tell you, it’s awful-awful-awful to lay across your child’s body as a part of a team of four adults attempting to keep him still, listening to him scream your name while numbing shots are archaically pierced into his wound. Let me also tell you, gaping, open wounds with MRSA bacteria floating around the house scare the bejeebies out of me.
Fourth:
July flew me to the mid-west to spend a week sitting in the ashes with a friend. There were Many Things, and so at one point we took a grinning selfie shouting, “MRSA!” alongside the name of those things, and then laughed about how it was the kind of picture appropriate for Facebook – who would suspect beneath the smiles of us together that infection raged and heartbreak reigned?
Fifth:
I think I’m accepting that for better or for worse, I’m a homeschooler. I might as well write about it. What? You think I already do? You’re so silly. I’ve maintained a bit of a delusion that you don’t actually see that homeschooling tab up there. “Everyone knows you have six kids, Harmony,” my friend Laura said to me. “Just write about it.”
Sixth:
By write about it, I mean that I had intended to keep homeschooling thoughts tunneled into a newsletter, and not have them very frequently shared on my blog. I’m still working out WHY I thought I’d do that, but there’s nothing to work out about the reality of the fact that this approach isn’t working. I’m a tidal writer. The tide is in for homeschooling thoughts right now (hello, August), so if there’s to be any writing, that’s probably what you’ll get.
Seventh:
Which reminds me to say again that my weekly school chart is available as a download. And I love you. Thank you for being here, for coming back, for reading along.

I lay some of the blame at your feet, my friend. 😉

You are so funny! I’ve been wrestling with the same thoughts lately, at least as far as homeschooling goes. Why do I not write about it? Good for you!! Excited to read more.

Oh gosh, Karen. This made me laugh! Okay, so I have a kindred out there, thank God. lol I think…I think for me it’s that I really really really don’t want to have my whole identity be ‘JUST’ HOMESCHOOLING. But it’s not, and it won’t be. 🙂

Miss Jean, we miss you too. If you get an itch to travel west, our house is yours!
