Nature Study

Dear Grandma and Grandpa,

I have been having a good week. How has your week been doing? Although, it has been a really hard week with school and today I did not have much to do of school work but we played outside for a long while. We went to the Wildlife Refuge and, um, we hiked up a big trail that we started before, and we finished it today. When we were almost up to the top we saw a bison reading a sign! The trail that we were walking on was made up of types of rocks called gabbro and granite, and gabbro is made up of four elements. We also stopped at a rock shop. Mama didn’t buy anything but when we were leaving the man came out and gave us each a rose rock, which is the Oklahoma state rock. Oh! On the trail we saw a lot of signs of a beaver–there was a beaver dam, and house, and many trees cut down by a beaver including the stump where his teeth marks were. We also saw ants eating a dead caterpillar and the ends of the caterpillar looked clear.

Love, Davita
