How We Do: Weekly School Schedules with Ambleside Online (part 1)

1-IMG_6384I am frequently asked about how we schedule our homeschool week, how we organize to make sure we get all the things done. I’m going to take the next few posts to break this down, beginning today with examples of our weekly paper schedules.  In our house we call these schedules: “charts.”

I apologize for the poor images – they are screen shots taken as I finished up the schedules in preparations for morning printing! I will try to give you clearer images later on.

In real life these schedules are not as intimidating as they look, and as we go through them over the next few days, I will explain why.

My paper charts are built off of the weekly book schedules at the AmblesideOnline website.   I follow Ambleside in most things, but do deviate here and there for conviction, pleasure and practicality’s sake. 😉 (I love Ambleside.  I love it more and more as the years go by.)

So here are the screenshots.

  • Part 2: a weekly schedule that works for me, and a school “chart” that is my greatest tool
  • Part 3: a practical explanation of how I make my charts and how the kids put them to use
  • Read: how we do first grade

Edited on 8-10-16 to say: These charts (schedules/templates) are available as downloads here. Please let me know if you grab one! 🙂

I love the simplicity of your schedule charts. Which program did you use to create them?

I used Pages on the Macbook, making a table adding a shape for the small circles. I tried using Numbers on the Mac, but couldn’t get it to look the way I wanted. I’m sure there is an easier way to make the format, but I’m not too savvy in this area! I’m glad you find them helpful!

Perfect! I have a Macbook and need to learn how to utilize Pages. You’ve inspired me to tackle this project! Blessings to you and your family!
